Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this course for?
We designed “201” for early to mid-level career product managers who want to make a significant impact in a healthcare technology or tech-enabled services company. We equip PMs with the knowledge, frameworks, and case studies they need to stand out as a Native Digital Health Product Manager and successfully build and ship products.
Can I take this class if I am new to healthcare or product management?
If you are newer to either product management or healthcare, we have you covered. Prior to the course, we offer an “Intro to Healthcare Product Management” recording and pre-course office hours to ensure you have the foundational knowledge needed to fully engage with the course material.
I am a Sr. PM (or above) at a healthcare company, should I take this class?
For experienced product managers with over 5-7 years of experience, this course can serve as a valuable refresher, but you may find the material familiar or basic. That being said, we believe it will still provide insights and strategies specific to the healthcare technology sector that may be new. The only caveat we provide is that if you are primarily looking to go deep into healthcare subject matter expertise and are less interested in product specific best practices, we ask that you wait for our 301 course for healthcare product leaders launching in 2024.
Do I have to be at every session? How long are they?
The course runs over four 90 minute sessions. Sessions two and three in particular require live attendance as students get the opportunity to interview their target buyer and end user segments to solicit data that informs their business case assignments.
How much is the course?
The course is $1800 - if you're interested in group rates please contact julia@outofpocket.health.
Is there a lot of work?
We really believe you will get out what you put in. You could just watch the lectures and still learn something, but we very intentionally curated pre-reads and designed assignments that would help you truly grasp what we introduce in the lectures.
Will the course cover my specific sub-industry in healthcare?
Please note that this course does not specifically focus on medical devices. We will explore the broader landscape of digital health products serving payers, pharma, health systems, providers, consumers, and in both fee-for-service and value-based business models.
